Have fun this summer with Cast Off Fishing Tournaments at Mount Pleasant Pier | Community News

This year, anglers of all ages and experience levels are invited to catch fish, have fun and win prizes at Mount Pleasant Pier’s Cast Off Fishing Tournament Series. Mount Pleasant Pier will offer four tournaments this year, May 7, June 4, September 3 and October 15.

Located at the foot of Ravenel Bridge, Mount Pleasant Pier opened in 2009 and offers fishing on Charleston Harbor. The pier is built on pilings from the old Silas N. Pearman Bridge, which have become a haven for many types of fish, including red drum, spotted sea trout, plaice, and sheepshead.

The May 5 and June 4 tournaments will run from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. The September 3 and October 15 tournaments will run from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. All four tournaments will offer prizes in the 3 largest fish, young and aggregate categories. Weight of 5 fish.

Tournament entry fees are $10 for ages 13 and up, $9 for military, $8 for seniors and 12 and under, and $5 for pass holders fishing. No pre-registration is required. On-site tournament registration begins at tournament opening time.

Adult chaperones are required for ages 15 and under. Tournaments take place rain or shine. Anglers can only win in one category.

Mount Pleasant Pier offers everything an expert or novice needs, including equipment rentals, tackle and frozen bait, and knowledgeable staff to offer advice. While you’re there, be sure to visit the River Watch Cafe & Gift Shop for handcrafted milkshakes, smoothies and sandwiches. Unique Lowcountry and nautical gifts are also for sale in the shop.

Operated by the Charleston County Parks and Recreation Commission (CCPRC), Mount Pleasant Pier is located at 71 Harry Hallman Blvd.
